Welcome to All Saints Hawstead, in the benefice of Horringer. We are a relatively small congregation committed to our witness and worship of Jesus Christ as our LORD and saviour. Our usual pattern of services are 2nd Sunday of the month 11am Morning Prayer and 4th Sunday of the month 11am Eucharist.
Aside from regular services, Congregations gather here for Easter, Harvest & Christmas services. We are Christians in community united by our faith and fellowship and welcome all people to join us in a spirit of love and hospitality. We are a popular location for weddings and baptisms. Our church is lovingly tendered by Churchwardens and PCC and is a beautiful place to visit for prayer and reflection.
As ‘The Guide to Suffolk Churches’-D. P. Mortlock (revised 2009) Lutterworth Press, states “The village is small but the church is impressive, standing proudly in a large churchyard with a massive sixteenth century tower. Over the west door a line of shields include five which are charged with the arms of the Drury family and their alliances by marriage. The chancel dates from 1300 and the spacious nave spans to 30ft. In the south east corner of the nave stands the tomb of Sir William Drury. Sir William was knighted by Edward VI and went on to serve Bloody Queen Mary as Privy Counsellor before dying in 1557.”
Another outstanding feature in the chancel is the monument to Sir Thomas Cullum erected in 1675 currently in need of conservation.
