St Leonard’s Church HORRINGER

St Leonard’s Church HorringerWelcome to St Leonard’s Church Horringer in the Horringer Benefice. Here at St Leonard’s you will receive a warm welcome to our 11.00am Sunday worship which varies between Morning Prayer and Eucharist (Holy Communion) services. Our intention is to encourage faith, share in Christian fellowship and serve our community with a pastoral heart. Whether you are coming to regular services or for a baptism/christening, a wedding, or a special seasonal service, we welcome all visitors and trust you will feel the nearness of God’s enduring love.
Horringer St Leonard lies by the main entrance to Ickworth Park, in a very attractive setting on the village green. It has been a significant place of worship for several landowners and families over the centuries and the building has evolved as people from different times, tastes and traditions have altered, enlarged and ‘improved’ it. The earliest record goes as far back as 1086, most significant changes (arguably), were made between the 17th to 19th centuries. A stained glass rural scene was donated by the Simpson family 1991 and placed in the east window of the south chapel and more recently a magnificent wood and glass screen to the bell tower was erected in the west arch in memory of Felix Potter for his lifelong dedication as Verger to church and community.

06/05/2023Dear Friends. Our Christmas Angel from Advent 2022 caused quite a stir among our local community. It was 14ft in length and had a significantly wide wing span. “Gabriel” was part of our Angel Festival which included the placement of many angels around and within the church contributed by members of church family and our local community. We were visited by the children from Ickworth Primary School and many topical conversations were had in regard to the overarching presence of our celestial visitor. Some visitors loved him, others were not so sure, but  significantly, our visitor invited many conversations as to our personal thoughts and reflections over Advent and Christmas.
